India’s grand old and one of the most popular bullet manufacturers, Royal Enfield is all set to buy Italian superbike Ducati, according to reports. Owned by the Volkswagen group, Ducati approached the Indian giant for the same.A report came last month as well of a possible sale of Italian company following the diesel emissions scandal. According to estimates, Ducati could fetch a valuation of about Rs 10,500 crore. As the giant Indian company is witnessing a healthy growth nationally as well internationally, this could also be a reason that why Ducati approached them.
When asked about possible acquisition plans for Ducati, MD & CEO of Eicher Motors (Royal Enfield) said "We can't talk to you on such things”, reported TOI."I have a general view on such things. We are always open to thoughts and ideas. But as you know, we are the most focused and selective company... So basically, without saying absolutely no to anything - because we never say never - we are so zeroed in on our own opportunity that we do not want anything to distract us,” Lal further said.Sources also said that Royal Enfield is showing interest in the deal if it comes at the right value and provides the best fit.
