On 'save fuel' mission, Oil Minister Veerappa Moily travels by Metro
Moily Boarded The Metro From A Station Near His House And Travelled To The Central Secretariat Station Near Shastri Bhawan.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M Veerappa Moily, who is on a ‘save fuel’ mission, ditched the government vehicle and travelled by Metro on Wednesday.
Moily boarded the metro from a station near his house and travelled to the Central Secretariat station near Shastri Bhawan.
Adequate security arrangements were made during his travel. There was report that Moily’s move caused inconvenience to the commuters, however, the minister rubbished it.
"Inconvenience is by media coverage, not by me or security," he said.
"Saving petrol is saving India's money. This is a sense of patriotism. The country can be energy-independent by energy conservation. I appeal to the other ministers also to do this," he said.
Moily had in September said that he and all officials in his ministry will travel by public transport every Wednesday from October 9.
