Audi India to hike car prices by up to Rs 9 lakh from April
Currently, Audi A3 Is The Cheapest Car From The Company Which Is Available At Rs 32 Lakh(ex-showroom Delhi) And The Costliest Which Is Being Offered At A Price Of More Than 3 Crore.
German luxury car maker Audi on Friday declared increase in the prices to its line-up of cars in India by Rs 1 lakh to 9 lakh which will be effective from April 1.
The reason behind the price hike of Audi car is the result of increase in customs duty in the budget.
Audi India sells a wide range of cars in the Indian market including sedans like A3, A4, A5 and A6, SUV like Q3, Q5 and Q7 and sports car including R8 and RS.
Audi India head, Rahil Ansari said, “The increase in custom duty and introduction of social welfare surcharge in lieu of an education cess (which is higher than the erstwhile cess) in the Union Budget made the increase in price inevitable’’.
He assured that the company has tried to absorb the impact of the increase in the duty and has minimised the price hike.
In the Union Budget 2018-19, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has increased the customs duty on CKD (completely knocked down) import of motor vehicles from 10 per cent to 15 per cent.
Also, on the spare parts/accessories, the custom duty is increased from 7.5 per cent to 15 per cent.
Currently, Audi A3 is the cheapest car from the company which is available at Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the costliest which is being offered at a price of more than 3 crore.
