Budget 2018-19 is just a hollow assurance, says former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
Singh Reacting To The Budget Asked The Narendra Modi-led Government To Hold Separate Discussions In Parliament On Matters Pertaining To The Farmers, Health, Education And Job Creation.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stated the budget for 2018-19 is ‘just hollow assurance’ as it does not have provisions for the schemes and felt that the promise of doubling farmers’ income is near to impossible.
Singh reacting to the budget asked the Narendra Modi-led government to hold separate discussions in parliament on matters pertaining to the farmers, health, education and job creation.
The Congress leader said, “The budget does not provide any assurance for schemes announced by the finance minister.”
The former prime minister further added that there should be separate discussion on the issues of farmer, health, education and job creation.
The veteran Congress leader also asserted that BJP’s claim of doubling the farmers’ incomes by 2022 is just a ‘hollow assurance’. “It can only be achieved if country’s agricultural growth is 12%,” added the former prime minister.
