Fuel Price Hike: Petrol price nears Rs 90 mark in Mumbai, spirals to Rs 82.44 in Delhi
Fuel prices continue to surge on Saturday with petrol price in Delhi up by 10 paise per litre to Rs 82.44 per litre while diesel price remained unchanged at Rs 73.87 in the national capital. In Mumbai, Petrol price rose to Rs 89.80 per litre and diesel at Rs 78.42. The revised rates are effective from 6 am on September 22.
“Petrol and Diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs.82.44 per litre & Rs.73.87 per litre, respectively. Petrol & Diesel prices in #Mumbai are Rs.89.80 per litre & Rs.78.42 per litre, respectively,” News Agency ANI reported on Saturday.

However, fuel prices in the national capital remained the lowest due to lower VAT or sales tax. The business capital of India, Mumbai, has the highest VAT of 39.12 per cent on petrol while Telangana has the highest VAT of 26 per cent on diesel.
The fuel prices have been spiralling since August 16.
Several top ministers, including Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had pointed to factors like crude oil prices and the falling rupee behind the sharp rise in fuel prices.
