Maruti Suzuki India becomes India's largest passenger car exporter
The Second And Third Spot Are Held By Volkswagen And General Motors (GM) Respectively.
With an export of 57,300 units of passenger cars Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has toppled the charts of car exporters pushing Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) to the fourth spot in the quarter ended April-September.
The second and third spot are held by Volkswagen and General Motors (GM) respectively.
The data provided by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) says that MSI has increased its sales figure by 6 per cent from 54,008 units to 57,300 units on a year on year basis.
What is more important to note is the decline in sales of Hyundai by 29.25 per cent to 44,585 units against 63,014 a year ago. This has pushed HMIL to the fourth position.
Volkswagen India exported 50,410 units of passenger cars, thereby registering a growth of 16.92 per cent.
General Motors (GM) after struggling for over two decades had in May decided to stop selling cars in India but has interestingly shot up its export figures by 47.72 per cent from 30,613 units last year to 45,222 units this year.
The sixth spot is occupied by Nissan Motor India, a straight decline of 37.11 per cent in its overseas car export.
