The police on Tuesday recovered Rs 52.62 lakh in new currency notes in Mandya district of Karnataka. The cash has been seized from a 14-member gang. The seized money was in new Rs 2,000 currency notes.
The gang is accused of robbing six persons who were involved in exchange of demonetised currency with new Rs 500 and RS 1,000 notes. The incident took place on December 12 when the gang robbed Rs 66.5 lakh from six persons.
Mandya Police will inform the I-T department about the seizure.
