Chandigarh: Major Fire Breaks Out At PG Accommodation In Sector 32, Three Girl Students Killed

At least three girl students died when a major fire broke out at a house in Chandigarh on Saturday, the police said. The women, aged between 19 and 22, were staying as paying guests on the first floor of the building in Sector 32, Chandigarh Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar said. Four fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
Another girl jumped from the PG's roof and is seriously injured. The PG was being run illegally. The police rushed to the spot after the fatal fire broke out at the PG. Firefighters on the spot have controlled the fire after getting information, but by the time firefighters brough the fire under control, three girls had lost their lives. The police are investigating the incident.
