Punjab government has released a fund of Rs 21 crore earmarked for the mid-day meal scheme in the state for the month of October.
The Centrally-funded scheme is being run in Moga, Sangrur and Ajitgarh districts of the state with the assistance of NGOs, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
The state government has now decided to extend it to Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala districts from November 1, besides 41 more schools of Ajitgarh, he said.
In these three new districts, the scheme will be implemented under contract system on the lines of that being run in Mohali.
