Delhi government has decided to turn Delhi's 'kachha' or natural Chhath ghats into 'pucca' ones by next year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.The move assumes significance, as municipal polls are due next year, and the Bihar-UP migrant community is seen as a major voting population in the city."I extend my wishes to people on the occasion of Chhath. The ghats are 'kachha', so, we have cleared the budget and also ordered for making the 'kachha' Chhath ghats into 'pucca' ones, which will be completed by next year," he told.The four-day festival, observed mainly by people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh or Poorvanchalis, began on Friday, November 4. On the last two days, people throng the ghats to make offering to the rising and the setting sun."Two years ago, there were 60 ghats under the Delhi government, which we increased to 180 last year and this year there are 300 ghats for people to observe Chhath," he said.
