Police on Friday early morning came in action soon after a suspicious bag was reported at Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. A bomb disposal squad was immediately rushed to the spot.
The suspicious bag was found near seating chair at gate number 2 of arrival section of Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. The cops immediately took the bag under their possession and officials say they are checking the contents. The bag is said to be carrying around 13 kg of content, including some electronic items.
“Airport Police Station received a call at 3 am alerting them about a suspicious bag which has been removed from the spot and teams are working to check its content,” the news agency PTI a Police official as saying.
In the meantime, the airlines sources said that this caused panic among passengers who were not allowed to exit the arrival terminal for sometime. The roads outside the T3 were also blocked, they added.
On October 3, airports across north India were placed on high alert after security agencies received reports of four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists entering Delhi. The security agencies had received a category-A intelligence input that these terrorists are planning to strike during the festival season. The alert led to searches across Delhi, especially in its more crowded neighbourhoods.
Earlier, intelligence agencies had issued warning against a module of 8 to 10 terrorists which will possibly try to carry out a suicide attack against Air Force bases and airports in and around Jammu and Kashmir.

Back in March this year, police had found a suspicious package near the Jammu Airport.
