Maruti Suzuki India inaugurates its 4th drinking water ATMs at near Manesar
With This Fourth Community Drinking Water Plant In Manesar, The Company Will Be Generating And Supplying A Total Of 96,000 Litres Of Pure Drinking Water, Benefiting Over 7,000 Households, MSI Said In A Regulatory Filing.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday said it has inaugurated its fourth drinking water project at Bas Hariya village, Manesar. The water ATM set up by the car maker has a capacity to generate 1,000 litres of purified water per hour.
"With this fourth community drinking water plant in Manesar, the company will be generating and supplying a total of 96,000 litres of pure drinking water, benefiting over 7,000 households," MSI said in a regulatory filing.
Earlier, the company had set up three water ATMs in Kasan,Dhana and Bus Khusla villages of Manesar. "A study of community needs showed pure drinking water asa gap. So, we decided to set up public sources of safe drinking water, which are convenient, affordable and self sustaining," MSI Head CSR, Ranjit Singh said.
MSI has borne the initial cost of the project while the Bus Hariya village panchayat will own the project and provide water and electricity to run the water ATM.
Waterlife India will operate and maintain the plant for aperiod of 10 years and would also sell water at a nominal rateof 35 paise per litre.
