A new facility of 28-acre is likely to be created at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport for housing new Boeing 777 wide-bodied aircraft which will be used for both domestic and international travels of VVIPs including the President, Vice President, and Prime Minister. Ministry of Civil Aviation, Indian Air Force, Delhi International Airport Limited and GMR group are in talks to set up the state-of-the-art facility."
The new 28-acre facility is planned to be raised at the IGI airport where the new aircraft with call sign 'Air Force One' would be kept and maintained," news agency ANI reports.
A new aircraft is being developed in the United States of America which will be equipped with the latest self-protection systems against missile and other attacks. The pilots of Indian Air Force are being trained by Air India to fly the ‘Air Force One’, the new aircraft. A couple of Boeing-777s are expected to arrive India by next year and will begin services soon.
As the planes will have sophisticated equipment including missile protection suites and ownership by the Indian Air Force, the planes will have military classification.
