The Student, Identified As Abhinav Sahni, Was Accompanied By His Friends When The Accident Took Place On January 10. Sahni Was Arrested On January 11 And Later Released On Bail.
In a hit and run case reported from the North Campus area of Delhi University (DU), a 50-year-old man lost his life after he was hit by a BMW car driven by a Khalsa College student, police said on Saturday.The student, identified as Abhinav Sahni, was accompanied by his friends when the accident took place on January 10. Sahni was arrested on January 11 and later released on bail.The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.A video of the incident which went viral on the social media shows the BMW coming from Kamla Nagar market flinging the pedestrian Shiv Nath several metres in the air.While Sahni fled the spot Nath was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.Sahni was identified on the basis of the CCTV footage. He told police Nath suddenly came in front of his vehicle and he could not apply brakes in time to save him.
