The Goa Legislative Assembly on Thursday congratulated Gyan Correa, for selection of his Gujarati film 'The Good Road' as the Indian entry for the 2013 Oscars.
BJP legislator Vishnu Surya Wagh moved the congratulatory motion on the floor of the House, which was supported by all the legislators including chief minister Manohar Parrikar.
Wagh said that Correa who has directed the movie has Goan origin from village Moira, near Mapusa town.
He claimed that the director is in touch with Goa through his cousins.
"It is a sense of great pride that Goan origin boy has made it to the Oscars. The nomination for the Oscars itself is a great achievement," he added.
'The Good Road' is a 2013 Indian drama film which has been selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language film at the 86th Academy Awards.
