Curfew Has Been Lifted In The Five Police Station Areas Of The City Where It Was Imposed On Friday As A Precautionary Measure
Authorities on Saturday lifted curfew from parts of the summer capital Jammu, where the curbs were imposed on Friday as a precutionary measure. The separatists’ plans of holding a congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar even as normal life remained affected in Kashmir Valley for the 127th consecutive day.
“Curfew has been lifted in the five police station areas of the city where it was imposed on Friday as a precautionary measure,” a police official said.
The lifting of the restrictions led to an increased movement of people and transport in the city. Inter-district cabs were also plying on some routes connecting the other districts of the Valley with the summer capital.Some shops were also open in the areas in the civil lines and the outskirts of the city as well as in some of the rural areas in other districts of Kashmir. However, most of the shops, fuel stations and other business establishments in the rest of the Valley were shut due to the strike.
They are expected to open later in the evening on Saturday, as the separatists have announced a 15-hour relaxation in the strike.As many as 85 people, including two cops, have been killed and several thousand others injured in the ongoing unrest in the Valley.
