Jammu & Kashmir: Villager washed away in flash floods, another rescued

A villager was reported to washed away and another rescued on Wednesday when heavy rains triggered flash floods on upper reaches in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The duo were crossing a river in Ramnagar-Basantgarh areas when sudden flash floods washed them away. A person, identified as Suram Chand, resident of Chhatrari, Tehsil Basantgarh died while another person was rescued by locals.
“Two people were washed away in the Chhatrari Nallah on Wednesday evening on Ramnagar-Basantgarh road,” official said.
In Kathua district, a house was damaged in flash floods in Hatli belt, the officials said, adding that there was no human loss of life.
