Dalits in Muzaffarnagar threaten protests if Hindu Vahini activists not arrested

The Shahid Udham Singh Sena on Tuesday threatened to launch an agitation in Muzaffarnagar, a day after a Dalit youth was allegedly beaten up by four Hindu Vahini activists if the police failed to arrest the accused by January 17.The Dalit youth Vipin Kumar, age 22-years, was allegedly beaten mercilessly with sticks, verbally abused, kicked, and forced to chant ‘Jai Mata Di’ by four activists of the Hindu Vahini in Kalanpur village of Muzaffarnagar on Monday, Circle Officer Yogender Singh said, citing a complaint lodged by the victim under sections 307 of IPC and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.The case was registered against accused Rahul, Dhiraj, Jodha, and Kaku who were absconding, Singh said.Shahid Udham Singh Sena president Vikas has threatened to launch an agitation if the demand for the arrest of the absconding Hindu Vahini activists is not met.
