BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday address his maiden rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.
The 100-feet long and 30 feet wide stage will hold the national leadership of the BJP including Modi and party president Rajnath Singh. Two side stages will accommodate the state leadership and other office bearers.
There were controversies over Modi’s Kanpur rally earlier, but now the stage is set.
Earlier on Friday, the Allahabad High Court had rejected the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Dalit farmers, demanding to shift the venue of Narendra Modi's rally in Kanpur.
In their PIL, the farmers had said that their agricultural land is encroached for the rally and it will destroy their crop and that their consent was not sought for the same.
The district administration had giving a clearance for the rally. Nearly three acres of land owned by farmers has been taken by the district administration for Modi’s rally.
Modi had been denied the permission for the rally in Phoolbagh Maidan of Kanpur by the district administration earlier.
