Rivers overflowing, villages flooded in some places in UP
While 77 Villages Were Affected By Floods In Muzaffarnagar, 125 Were Hit In Bijnore, 134 In Lakhimpur Kheri, 32 In Sitapur, 10 In Bahraich, 17 In Aligarh, 52 In Barabanki, 8 In Faizabad, One In Shahjahanpur, 90 In Farrukhabad, 16 In Badaun And Ten In Hapur, Officials Said.
Over 570 villages in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh were on Tuesday reeling under floods even as rivers Sharda, Ghaghra, Quano and Budhi Rapti continued to flow above the danger mark at some places.
While 77 villages were affected by floods in Muzaffarnagar, 125 were hit in Bijnore, 134 in Lakhimpur Kheri, 32 in Sitapur, 10 in Bahraich, 17 in Aligarh, 52 in Barabanki, 8 in Faizabad, one in Shahjahanpur, 90 in Farrukhabad, 16 in Badaun and ten in Hapur, officials said.
Rescue and relief work was on in the affected areas, they said.
Ganga, which was maintaining an upward trend on Monday, has started receding from Ankinghat to Kanpur and was static at Fatehgarh where erosion caused by it in three tehsil areas was causing worry, according to the Central Water Commission.
Sharda continued to flow above the danger mark at Palia Kalan though it was now static and Rapti was rising all along from Balrampur to Gorakhpur.
Smaller rivers like Burhi Rapti was flowing above the danger mark at Siddhartnagar but was now static and Quano at Gonda and Mukhlispur (Santkabirnagar) was flowing way above the danger mark, it said.
