Uttar Pradesh Roadways has decided to provide wi-fi internet facility to the passengers traveling in its low cost air-conditioned bus service ‘Janrath’ for which they will be charged.“In the first phase, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSTRC) will equip its 10 air-conditioned ‘Janrath’ buses with wi-fi systems for which it has signed a contract with a private telecom service provider,” Additional Regional Manger UPSRTC Ashok Kumar Shrotriya said.The passengers will be charged ‘one time extra payment of 20 per cent’ for the usage of internet, which would be included in the ticket amount, he said, adding conductors on board would provide the password to the passengers en-route.Tickets for ‘Janrath’ buses can be booked online in advance.UP government has sanctioned a contingent of 25 ‘Janrath’ buses for Ghaziabad region for long route journey of which 10 have arrived, he said.As per the schedule, two buses will start plying between Ghaziabad and Dehradun, six to Lucknow, and two to Haridwar regularly within a short span of time.To maintain cleanliness in the buses, a private company has been shortlisted on trial basis for a period of one month, ARM Shrotriya said.
