The Incident Happened At Around 1:30 Pm At Sanpada When Thackeray And His Family Were Returning From Ekvira Devi Temple In Karla In Lonavla, An Official Said.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's wife Sharmila suffered minor injuries after her car met with an accident on the Sion-Panvel Highway in neighbouring Navi Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. According to reports, her car hit another vehicle of the convoy.
The incident happened at around 1:30 pm at Sanpada when Thackeray and his family were returning from Ekvira Devi Temple in Karla in Lonavla, an official said.
“On Sanpada bridge, two cars in the convoy hit each other possibly due to lack of speed coordination. Thackeray’s convoy entered Mumbai city limits some 20 minutes later,” he added.
Some reports suggest that the accident took place after Sharmila’s car's driver applied brakes suddenly to avoid hitting an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.
Traffic police along with other officials rushed to the spot and inspected the scene. Visuals show a silver car with a damaged hood and another with a damaged rear end.
