Naga bodies hit the street to protest illegal ‘tax’ collection
A number of social organisations on Wednesday brought out a joint rally to protest illegal collection of ‘taxes’ by various unions and Naga political groups on national highways in Nagaland.
Organised by the Public Action Committee (PAC) of Naga Council, an apex tribal body of this commercial town, the rally demanded that illegal collection of ‘taxes’ on various goods and services, transporters, vehicles and dealers be stopped immediately.
These unauthorised collection centres operating in and around Dimapur district by various Unions and organizations including Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and state government agencies resulting to uncontrolled inflation in all prices.

The rally resolved to support and uphold “solution of Naga political issues but not taxation” and appealed to the Centre and the Naga political groups to solve the protracted Naga political issue.
Organisations such as the PAC Naga Council Dimapur, the Naga Women Hoho, the Bengali Samaj, the Central Naga Tribal Council, the Angami Public Organization and Eastern Naga Public Organization took part in the rally.
