US-based Internet infrastructure services provider Verisign today said 4 million domain names were added to the Internet in July-September 2014 taking the total number to 284 million globally.Domain names rose by 1.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter compared to the second quarter of 2014, while globally registrations grew 18.1 million or 6.8 per cent, year-on-year.“Four million domain names were added to the Internet in third quarter of 2014, bringing the total number of registered domain names to 284 million worldwide across all top-level domains (TLDs) as of September 30, 2014, according to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief,” Verisign said.
