David Dhawan birthday special 5 films which proves him as King of Comedy in Bollywood
There was a time in Hindi cinema, when comedy movies were far more clean and full of entertainment than today’s time. Yes, it was the 90s era when many Bollywood actors such as Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Chunky Pandey and many more earned stardom with these comedy flicks. But, there was one director whose passion to produce pure gold comedy films made him the ‘King of Comedy’ of Hindi cinema and he was David Dhawan. David Dhawan, was the only director then, who gave back-to-back comedy hits in the 90s. Currently, he is awaiting his latest release, which is also the remake of 1997 superhit film ‘Judwaa’ which features his son Varun Dhawan along with Jacqueline Fernandes and Taapsee Pannu. On the occasion of his 65th birthday, we will recall some of his biggest hits and landmark films, which will be remembered by the audience for a very long time. Aankhen – It is a 1993 action comedy film which stars Govinda in double role along with Chunky Pandey. The movie went on to become a blockbuster at the box-office and the highest grosser of the year.
Raja Babu – It is a 1994 action comedy film starring Karisma Kapoor, Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Prem Chopra, Aruna Irani and Gulshan Grover. The songs of the flick were chartbusters.
Hero No. 1 – It is a 1997 comedy film which features Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles and Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor and Kader Khan in pivotal roles. Songs such as ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’ and ‘Main Toh Raste Se Jaa’ were chartbuster.
Mujhse Shaadi Karogi – It is a 2004 romantic comedy film starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. The film received three nominations of Filmfare Awards.
Partner – It is a 2007 romantic comedy flick featuring Govinda, Salman Khan along with Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta in lead roles. The film was declared as blockbuster at the box-office.
