Five Ranbir Kapoor flop films that tanked miserably at the box office
Bollywood next generation superstar Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most popular and highest paid actor in the industry. He began his career with Bollywood’s top filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the year 2007. He has seen his share of ups and down in his career where some of his films won the hearts of millions while others tanked miserably at the box-office. Ranbir is currently awaiting the release of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic titled Sanju. Let us recall five such movies which were the biggest flops in Ranbir Kapoor’s career, the movie that came and left without much notice:
Jagga Jasoos (2017) – Helmed by Anurag Basu, Jagga Jasoos was a mystery comedy thriller film where a teenage detective is in search of his missing father. The movie was created with a huge budget of Rs 131 but tanked miserably at the box-office.
Bombay Velvet (2015) – One of the most awaited film of the year that featured some of the biggest names in the star cast including Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma and Kay Kay Menon could manage to live up to the potential and was declared a disaster at the box-office. The movie was produced a massive budget of over 120 crore and could only churn out Rs 44 crore.
Tamasha (2015) – Imtiaz Ali is one of the most successful director in Indian cinema who has directed cult moives like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar. In the year 2015, Imtiaz came up with another love story Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of a man who is fascinated by the stories narrated by a road side story teller who keeps mixing up his characters. Despite grossing Rs 135 crore worldwide including Rs 67 crore domestic. The movie was declared a flop at the box-office.
Besharam (2013) – Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, Besharam featured Pallavi Sharda opposite Ranbir who is a small-time car thief raised in an orphanage and manages to charm everyone who knows him. The movie opened well with around 90 per cent occupancies but with a bad word of mouth and negative reviews the movie failed and was declared a flop after four days of its release.
Saawariya (2007) – The movie was release on the festive season of Diwali along with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shaanti Om. Saawariya was the debut film for both Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor. The movie failed to live up to the expectation despite being a Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial venture and was declared a flop. However, Ranbir Kapoor received Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in that year.
