Kajol Devgn turns 44 today. Born in Mumbai to the Mukherjee-Samarth film family of Bengali-Marathi descent, Kajol is arguably one of the most successful actresses of her time. She made her debut at a very young age of 17 in 1992 with romantic drama Bekhudi alongside debutante Kamal Sadanah. From there on, the actress didn’t look back and went on to deliver some of the best and most successful films like – Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai . Playing Isha Diwan, a psychopath serial killer and obsessive lover in Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Kajol proved her versatile artistry and silenced her critics. Debuting with the 1992 romantic drama Bekhudi, Kajol played the character of a young girl Radhika in the film who falls in love with the protagonist played by Kamal Sadanah, also a debutant. The movie, however, was a flop at the box office, but Kajol’s performance was noticed by Abbas-Mustan, who signed her for his super hit Baazigar (1993) opposite Shah Rukh Khan. After Baazigar, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan became the most famous pair of Bollywood. Kajol once again appeared with Shah Rukh in the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) in 1995. The movie changed Kajol’s career completely and she became a household name. The DDLJ turned Shah Rukh into a romantic superstar and Kajol Bollywood’s first choice opposite the earlier.
