Happy Birthday Nimrat Kaur Lesser known facts and roles portrayed by the prolific actress
Nimrat Kaur might not have seen commercial success in Bollywood like her peers but taking a clue from the characters she enacted on the silver screen, there's no doubt that she is one powerhouse performer of all times. She is remembered for her role in Lunchbox and Airlift but there are other lesser known roles that she portrayed and demands special attention.
Nimrat Kaur's father Bhupinder Singh was a major in Indian Army. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen kidnapped him from his place of work and after seven days, terminated him. Her father was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
Nimrat bagged an interesting part in the American series Homeland in which she played the role of a Pakistani ISI agent named Tasneem Qureshi. She is currently shooting for the final season and even posted a still with a caption saying, "Mean never tasted sohhh gooooood. Statutory warning : Strap up. It ain’t for the faint hearted."
In the second season of sci-fi thriller series Wayward Pines, Nimrat essayed the role of an architect named Rebecca Yedlin. It was quite a challenge to play a character that has two lives — one before she comes to live in Wayward Pines , the mysterious town in which the show is set and one after she finds herself in.
Nimrat essayed the role of Captain Shikha Sharma in a web series, The Test Case. The character is a test case for being the first woman in a combat role within the Indian Army. Her portrayal of a woman taking challenges in a male dominated world on her stride and making her presence felt got a big thumbs up from critics.
