Its ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini’s 69th birthday! The actor turned politician has been known for acting and dancing and later on for her political career. Hema Malini got her first break in the year 1965 with a small role in ‘Pandava Vanavasam’ and then there was no looking back. She is popularly known for her role in Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Dream Girl, Satte Pe Satta, Amir Garib Sanyasi, Kinara and many more. There are numerous lesser known facts about the veteran actress. Hema Malini’s first co-star was Raj Kapoor. She was even offered Satyam Shivam Sundaram but she refused the role without any regret and said, “It was a lovely script with beautiful songs. But I couldn’t do the scenes required by Raj Saab’’.
Despite being a huge star, Hema Malini was also a big fan of Vyjanthimala. She also played a cameo role in Vijay Anand’s Tere Mere Sapne Maltimala which was inspired by Vyjanthimala.
Many Bollywood’s leading man, married or unmarried wanted to marry her. Jeetendra and Sanjeev Kumar even proposed Hema for marriage but it was only one man whom she wanted to marry and he was Dharmendra.
Not many are aware of the fact that it was Hema Malini who introduced Shah Rukh Khan into the film industry after watching him in a TV serial ‘Fauji’. She signed him for ‘DIl Aashna Hai’.
Hema Malini was one of the most success actresses of her time. It is also believed that she revived the film career of Manoj Kumar and Rajesh Khanna when both the actors were going through a career downfall.
