IIFA Awards 2018 Irrfan Khan grabs the Best Actor complete list of winners
The 19th edition of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards were held in Bangkok’s Siam Niramit theatre on Sunday. The event was hosted by Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh. The Award night was a complete star studded show and one of the biggest night in the Indian cinema. The event was fuelled with extreme energy with the power-packed performances from Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Rekha and many more. So, here’s a complete recap of award winners at the IIFA 2018:
Best Actor in a leading role (Male) – Irrfan Khan who is currenty getting treated for Neuro Endocrine Tumour gets the Best Actor Award in a leading role for the film Hindi Medium where he played the role of a father who does anything for the admission of his child in New Delhi most popular school.
Best Actor in a leading role (Female) – Sridevi was adjudged the Best Actress Award for her last film MOM which was also her 300th film. Her husband and filmmaker Boney Kapoor received the award on her behalf. He even got emotional while receiving the award
Best Director – Saket Chaudhary received the Award for Best Director for the film Hindi Medium. The other nominations were Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (Bareilly Ki Barfi), Anurag Basu (Jagga Jasoos), Amit V Masurkar (Newton) and Suresh Triveni (Tumhari Sulu).
Best Picture – Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu received the award for Best Picture. In the movie, Vidya plays a role of a housewife which becomes a radio jockey and out of a sudden her life changes completely.
Best Supporting Actor (Male) – Nawazuddin Siddiqui bagged Best Supporting Award for the film MOM. The movie was released in the year 2017 and the last film of Bollywood’s Hawai Hawai Sridevi.
Best Supporting Actor (Female) - Mehar Vij won the awards for Supporting role in Secret Superstar. The movie also features Zaira Wasim and Aamir Khan and was directed by Advait Chandan.
Style Icon Award – Raabta star Kriti Sanon grabbed the Style Icon Award at the IIFA 2018. Kriti is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming project, Welcome to News York.
Best Music Direction – Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi & Akhil Sachdeva received Best Music Direction Award for their film, Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The movie featured Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Best Playback Singer (Male) - Arijit Singh received this award for a popular romantic number Hawayein from the movie, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The song was a chartbuster and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.
Best Playback Singer (Female) - Meghna Mishra bagged the Best Playback Singer award for ‘Main Kaun Hoon’ song from Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim starrer ‘Secret Superstar’. The song was one of the most loved songs the year.
Best Debut Director – Konkana Sen Sharam debut her direction career with ‘A Death in the Gunj’ and grabs the Best Direction Award for the film. The movie also featured Om Puri, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh and Ranvir Shorey.
