Manoj Kumar turns 76
The Bollywood star of yesteryears Manoj Kumar has turned 76 on July 24, 2013.
Manoj Kumar’s image as a patriotic hero started with the film Saheed in 1965.
He got his nomination for the best actor award for Upkaar in 1968. But, won this award in 1972 for Beimaan.
Manoj Kumar is married to Shashi Goswami and has two sons Vishal and Kunal.
In 2004, he retired from Bollywood and officially joined hand with Shiv Sena.
Manoj Kumar was hospitalised to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on July 21, 2013 for gastric infection.
The star is remembered for his awe-inspiring acting in movies like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and Kranti.
After his acting and directing in patriotic theme he was nicknamed as ‘Bhaarat Kumar’.
In 1992, he was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
Manoj Kumar’s first film in a leading role was Kaanch ki Gudia opposite Sayeeda Khan.
