Mom box office collection Day 1 Sridevi film earns Rs 2 50 crore
The most awaited Sridevi-starrer movie, 'Mom' that was released on July 7, 2017 earned an estimated Rs 2.50 crore at the box-office, according to reports on Boxofficeindia.com. Despite the thrill that surrounded this suspense thriller before its launch, the movie had a slow start on its opening day. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna are also seen in pivotal roles in the film. It was released on 1350 screens in India in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages. In the overseas market, the film was released on 456 screens.
Written and directed by debutant Ravi Udyawar, 'Mom' is a story of a schoolteacher Devki Sabharwal (played by Sridevi) and her young teenage daughter Arya.
The film also stars Nawazundin Siddiqui and Akshaye Kumar in pivotal roles. While Siddiqui dons the role of private detective Daya Shankar Kapoor, Akshaye hits the screen with the character of a top-notch Crime Branch cop Matthew Francis.
Although the film's opening day collections didn't meet expectations, it has done fairly better than the first-day collection of Sridevi's 2012 film 'English Vinglish' which opened at Rs 2.25 crore.
However, with good reviews from the critics, the makers of the movie hope for a better weekend collection.
