Remembering Kishore Kumar a versatile singer, actor and director on his 87th birth anniversary
August 4 marks the 87th birth anniversary of India’s music legend Kishore Kumar. The yesteryear singing sensation continues to live in the hearts of his fans through generations. Twitter today paid tribute to the yodeling king by remembering best of his talents and work.
Kishore Kumar is a name which needs no introduction. A versatile singer, an entertaining actor and a director-Kishore was truly the livewire of Indian cinema. Kishore Kumar was born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly, started his career in the field of acting, with Shikari in 1946. In 1948, he was offered to sing ‘Marne ki duayen kyon mangu’ by music director Khemchand Prakash for the film Ziddi.
Not many people are aware of the fact that Kishore Da entered the film industry without any formal training in singing and went on to become the most loved voice of all times. A soul which inspires many singers of today’s generation, Kishore’s talent was first spotted by SD Burman and this name later went on to become a rage in Bollywood.
Some of his best hits are: ‘Maana janaab Ne Pukara Nahin’, ‘Yeh jo mohabbat Hai’, ‘O hansini meri hansini’, ‘Roop tera mastana’, ‘Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si’, ‘Haal kaisa hai janaab ka’, ‘Neele neele ambar par’ and ‘Aise na mujhe tum dekho’.
Despite Kishore da’s versatile popularity in the 1970s, Kishore Kumar remained extremely humble and stayed grounded. It’s always interesting and inspiring when you get to know about a personality who was truly amazing, successful and talented.
