Remembering Suchitra Sen: Life in pics
Suchitra Sen was born on April 6, 1931 in Bangladesh to a headmaster father and a housewife mother.
Sen left all of us on 17 Jan, 2014 following a heart attack.
Suchitra Sen’s busy schedule gave no reason to Satyajit Ray to complete the film Devi Chaudhurani with some other actress.
Her success got international in the year of 1963, when she won the best actress award in Moscow Film Festival for the movie Saat Paake Bandha.
One of Suchitra's best known performances was in Deep Jwele Jaai (1959).
She received a Best Actress Award for the film Devdas (1955), which was her first Hindi movie.
She became one of the famous Bengali actress opposite Uttam Kumar and her films ran through the 1960s and the 1970s.
Soon she got a chance to act opposite Uttam Kumar in Sharey Chuattor.
Suchitra made her debut in films with Shesh Kothaay in 1952, but it was never released.
After getting matured enough she tied knot with Dibanath Sen in 1947. The couple has one daughter, Moon Moon Sen, who is also the mother of actresses Riya and Raima Sen.
Sen was the fifth child and third daughter of Karunamoy Dasgupta and Indira Devi.
