Spain's La Tomatina festival: In Pictures
The festival attracts tens of thousands to the tiny town of Bunol in Spain.
The famous festival was recreated for one of the significant scenes in the multi-starrer movie, which left us craving for such an occasion in India, too (Only if steep tomato prices allow us to of course...)
On Wednesday, Google Doodle also marked the 70th anniversary of La Tomatina- the yearly Spanish tomato-throwing festival.
History suggests that on the last Wednesday of August, 1945 during the Giants and Big-Heads figures parade a participant fell down and in rage started throwing tomatoes at the crowd.
Today it is officially known as the "World's Biggest Food Fight."
It is celebrated on the last Wednesday of every August.
During the La Tomatina festival, people throw tomatoes for exactly an hour.
Once the festival is celebrated, firetrucks hose down people with water to wash away their stickiness. This year, the festival will celebrate its messy 70th anniversary.
