World’s Rivers Day The Tigris Nile most beautiful rivers A toast to this gift to life
To highlight the infinite values of rivers and increase public awareness every last Saturday of September is celebrated as World’s Rivers Day. As the source of life, rivers are not just home to water organisms but are also nature’s closest map and the fastest means of transport after air. And some of the oldest civilizations in the world such as Indus Valley Civilisation, the Ancient Nile, Mesopotamia all started their historic civilisation with rivers. Rivers have as such always been the roadmap to commerce and sustainability. Apart from a life-source and commerce rivers can also be an escapade and a natural healer to the throngs of this demanding life. Here is a look at some of the most beautiful rivers in the world:
Caño Cristales is undoubtedly a river straight out of paradise. Known as the “River of Five Colors†or the “Liquid Rainbowâ€, this river every year for a brief brief period transforms into a bed of vibrant colours like red, blue, yellow, orange and green. Caño Cristales is definitely nature at its finest.
Known for its emerald-green water, The Neretva that flows through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the coldest and the cleanest rivers in Europe. With clear drinking water and amazing natural landscapes along its green banks, the Neretva is a sight worth the SIGH!
A river where one of the earliest civilisation was built, River Tigris that flows through Turkey and Iraq also is no lacking in its scenic beauty. With Baghdad standing on the banks of the Tigris, this river also also provides a feast of atmospheric ancient sites and hurried Middle-East-style towns.
A wonder of a river, the Nile is also the wellspring civilization in ancient Egypt and Northern Africa. A pristine river that flows in the desert region is enough said for Nile to be nature’s wonder. In fact, a trip to Egypt isn't complete until one has had the opportunity to take a cruise down the Nile.
What is Paris but without its heart, the Siene. As one of the most navigable rivers in France, the Siene runs through an amazing diversity of buildings sites and monuments such as the Eifel Tower, the beautiful Grand Palais, Ile St Louis, Musee d’Orsay, Louvre among many others. If that doesn’t make you want a cruise ship through the Siene, then nothing might!
