With gota chunri, coconut and mother’s blessings, PM Modi votes in Gujarat’s Ranip
Polling in the third and largest phase of Lok Sabha election in 116 seats, including all constituencies in Gujarat and Kerala will take place today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is already in his home state Gujarat to cast his vote. PM Modi met his mother Heeraben at her residence in Gandhinagar in early morning hours on Tuesday. A red gota chunri was also seen in PM Modi’s hands gifted by his mother. The PM also cast his vote in Ranip. PM Modi is close to his mother, whom he visits whenever he's in Gujarat. Among the prominent candidates for Phase 3 Lok Sabha elections 2019 are the presidents of the two main political parties, BJP chief Amit Shah making his Lok Sabha election debut from Gandhinagar in Gujarat and Congress president Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad in Kerala.
Media personnel captured the moment PM reached his mother’s home before casting his vote in neighbouring Ahmedabad.
PM Modi’s mother lives with his brother Pankaj on the outskirts of Gandhinagar.
Heeraben and his father, Damodardas Modi, played a "very big role" in his life, Modi had said at number of times.
PM Modi's mother, Heeraben, who is in her late 90s, is also expected to cast her vote today at a polling booth in Gandhinagar.
