Delhi on Sunday witnessed its hottest day in the last two years as the maximum temperature in Palam area touched 47 degree Celsius mark. Hot loo winds coming from Rajasthan scorched most of the parts in the capital.

The national capital has been consistently witnessing the maximum of 40 degree Celsius during the last few days. The MeT department has predicted that similar conditions will prevail on Monday and Tuesday.

Safdarjung also witnessed heatwave and the maximum temperature touched 44.6 degree Celsius. It is the highest temperature recorded since May 26, 2015.

The National Capital Region (NCR) too witnessed scorching heat as maximum temperature in Ayanagar was 46.6 degree Celsius and Gurugram 44.6.

However, the MeT department has predicted that Delhi and nearby regions may witness rains on Tuesday evening.
