Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan is all set to be crowned as the next PM of Pakistan. His political parties Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is on the verge to a landslide victory in the General Elections. Imran has been one of the most popular cricketer in the history of cricket but there are some lesser known facts about him which are not known to many.
In the year 2009, he became one of the fifty-five cricketers inducted into ICC Hall of Fame at its centennial year celebration.
He founded a ShaukatKhanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in the year 1994 which offers free service. His mother died due to cancer.
In the year 1994, he admitted that he occasionally scratched the ball and lifted the seam during a Test match which later created lot of controversy over ball tampering.
After winning the World Cup in 1992, during his victory’s speech he spoke about his off-field motivation, the cancer hospital which he wanted to build and not about the win. He didn’t even congratulate his teammates for their contribution.
In the year 2004, Imran Khan was robbed at gunpoint while driving through the outskirts of Islamabad. Two men with semi-automatic weapons emerged from nearby bushes and was forced to hand over their mobile phones, credit cards, a camera and a purse.
