In pics: After judgement, Dera chief broke down in tears, pleaded for mercy, dragged out of court
A special CBI court in Rohtak on Monday sentenced Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh 20 years of imprisonment for raping two women followers. Soon after the judgments Dera chief broke down in tears and started p[leading for mercy.
As soon as CBI judge Jagdeesh Singh pronounced quantum of sentence against Dera chief, he started pleading for mercy. He wanted only 7 years jail instead of 20 years but wasn’t paid any heed.
After the sentence, emotionally broken Dera chief sat on the floor of the court and started crying. He even refused to leave the court premise and had to be dragged out of the court.
Dera Sacha Sauda Chief will now be deported directly to jail where he will spent 20 years. He has been allotted prisoner no. 1997.
The court also slammed authorities for giving Dera chief VVIP treatment. Away from all the luxuries he enjoyed in his sect headquarter, he will now spend his jail term in a normal prisoners barrack.
