The floods and rains have left a trail of destruction in several states of India. The states that have been badly affected are Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha, and others. Several people have lost their lives and thousands have been displaced.
Joint rescue teams comprising personnel from Fire and Emergency Department, State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force and Army have been evacuating people.
Authorities have evacuated 80,000 more people from flood-hit and rain-affected areas in Karnataka, where the rain fury in the last few days has left nine people dead.
Incessant rains in Kerala have claimed 23 lives in the past two days. Over 22,000 people have been shifted to some 315 relief camps across the state.
A total of 2,081 houses have been damaged while 14,322 people have been evacuated to safer places. As many as 95 free kitchen centres/relief camps have been opened for the evacuated people in Odisha.
