On the third day of Chaitra Navaratri, Maa Chandraghanta is worshiped by the devotees. It will be celebrated on March 30, Thursday. Her name Chandra-Ghanta, means "one who has a half-moon shaped like a bell". It is believed that she rewards people with her grace, bravery, courage and end their sufferings and distresses. Goddess Chandraghanta mounts on the tigress. She wears the semi-circular moon (Chandra) on her forehead. The half-moon on her forehead looks like the bell (Ghanta) and because of that she is known as Chandra-Ghanta.
She is the Goddess of Manipura Chakra located on the Navel which is ruled by Sun.
Goddess Chandraghanta is the married form of Parvati. Goddess Mahagauri was married to Lord Shiva and started applying half Chandra on Her forehead because of which She is referred to as Chandraghanta.
Maa Chandraghanta symbolizes peace, serenity and prosperity, she establishes justice and gives Her devotees the courage and strength to fight challenges.
