Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s AOL event: 5 things you should know
Hundreds of security men are on duty at the hotels where dignitaries and artists are staying across Delhi. At least 1,500 officials and a team of Eagle Commandos have been deployed at the venue of the event. Massive security arrangement has been put in place for the event.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's three-day Art of Living event – World Culture Festival – which has been the centre of controversy due to environmental concerns for its venue being the banks of Yamuna river in Delhi, is all set to be held on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event around 5 PM. The AOL had sought 3 weeks’ time to arrange the money. The NGT has asked the foundation to submit Rs 25 lakh by today, and pay the rest of the amount in 3 weeks.
"Is it correct that you made a statement that you will not pay Rs 5 crore fine and rather go to jail. Do not make Tribunal a subject of controversy. If anybody hurts the image of the Tribunal, we will take it to a logical conclusion as per rule of law," NGT told AOL on Friday.
"We have permission from the fire department. We will pay Rs 5 crore fine in four weeks. We can deposit 25 lakh today and the balance amount within 3 weeks." Art of Living tells NGT. NGT accepts it.
Who said what: Why should he pay the money? He is doing it to promote India, says Farooq Abdullah on Sri Sri World Culture Festival. "World Culture Festival by Art of Living will bring glory to India. let's not politicise this," tweets Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
