Under construction building collapses in Karnataka Dharwad several feared trapped
One person died, while at least 40 feared trapped as an under-construction building collapsed in Kumareshwar Nagar in Karnataka's Dharwad.
Search and rescue operation is underway. The incident took place near a bus stand. At least 10 ambulances have reached the spot and four JCBs at work.
At least 15 people have been rescued from debris so far. They have been taken to a hospital. The building collapsed around 3.30 pm.
"Shocked to learn about the collapse of an under-construction building in Dharwad. I've instructed the Chief Secretary to supervise rescue operations. I have also directed the CS to send additional resources and expert rescuers by a special flight to #Dharwad," tweeted Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
As per some locals, construction was going on in the building from the last two years where first floor has almost 60 shops which were functional.
