Women who made India proud
Women empowerment is talk of the town but here are some Indian women who made all of us proud in the world.
Sania Mirza: Sania Mirza created history by becoming the first female tennis player from India to achieve the world number one rank in doubles.
Saina Nehwal: She became the first Indian women shuttler to achieve world number one ranking. She is currently on number 2 position.
Mary Kom: Bronze in women’s flyweight category in boxing. She is a five-time world boxing champion and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships.
Kalpana Chawla: She was the first Indian women to visit space. Tragically all astronauts were killed while they were returning on earth.
Sunita Williams: She holds the records for longest single space flight by a woman (195 days),total spacewalks by a woman (seven), and most spacewalk time for a woman (50 hours, 40 minutes).
