German automaker Volkswagen is all set to launch its new generation Passat today in India. The new VW Passat was first unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, it’s taken nearly three years to come to India. It aims to create a localised a version of its MQB A0 platform to give it the cost advantage. The 2017 VW Passat will be powered by a 175bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel mill mated to their six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The GTE plug-in hybrid in the global market gets a 113bhp electric motor and a 154bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The combination produces a power output of 215bhp and 400Nm of torque, while VW has confirmed that this version qualifies for the EU 6 emission norms as well.
