Yuvraj Singh - The man who gained respect like no other who has played this sport. Yuvraj, who was fighting cancer produced a tournament-winning performance for India. He not only scored runs or picked wickets, but showed his character. He finished the tournament with 362 runs and 15 wickets.
Interestingly, the man of the tournament award started in the year 1992 and the first player to get his hand on the coveted trophy turned out to be New Zealand's Martin Crowe. He played for the New Zealand national cricket team between 1982 and 1995, and is regarded as the country's greatest batsman. In the 1992 World Cup tournament, he went onto score 456 runs.
In 1996, Sri Lanka's batting all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya is second in the list. Jayasuriya, who is known for his power-hitting also showed his skills with ball. He ended the tournament with 221 runs and 7 wickets.
The seventh edition of the World Cup happened in three year time. The stand-out performer was Lance Klusener. With his all-round performance, he ended up with 281 runs and 17 wickets and eventually was awarded as the Man of the Tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar is next on this list. His brilliant performance with the bat led India into the finals of the World Cup. He remained consistent throughout the tournament, and gave a glimpse of what turned out to be a remarkable career. He scored 673 runs and took two wickets.
Glenn McGrath - A fast bowler, who is considered one of the greatest bowlers in cricketing history was the leading wicket-taker in 2007 World Cup edition. His ability to pitch the ball in right areas helped him to scalp 26 wickets in the tournament and eventually helped his team finish with fourth World cup title.
Mitchell Starc - Through this skiddy pace and bounce while playing in the conditions he has grown up, produced best possible performance in the 2015 World Cup. He snarled 22 wickets in the tournament.
