The 19th match of ICC World Cup 2019 featured the host England taking on two-times world champs West Indies at The Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton. The English side took a convincing win over the Windies by eight wickets, courtesy Joe Root’s unprecedented performance with the bat and ball. Check out the complete gist of the match.
Jofra Archer and Mark Wood took three wickets each for the English side and restricted the Windies innings at just 212 runs.
Nicholas Pooran was the only Windies batsmen who could manage to hit a half-century. Apart from Pooran, Chris Gayle and Shimron Hetmyer score 36 and 39 runs respectively.
Two-times champion West Indies were bowled out for 212 in just 44.4 overs.
For England, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root opened the innings and gave the hosts’ a convincing start against the Windies.
Joe Root smashed his 16th ODI fifty and second in this World Cup, taking the English innings to the finish line.
England beat West Indies by eight wickets. Team Windies has not been able to beat England in World Cup since last forty years.
Joe Root becomes the Man of the Match for his magnificent 100 and two wickets for 27 runs.
