In the match number 35 of the ICC World Cup 2019 featured Sri Lanka and South Africa taking on each other at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street. South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets and gained two points taking them one spot up in the Points Table. Here is the complete gist of the #SLvsRSA game.
Proteas won the toss and opted to field first against Sri Lanka.
Firstly, Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karnaratne along with Kusal Perera came out to bat but it was Kasigo Rabada who scalped first wicket for the Proteas on the first ball of the innings.
For Sri Lanka, Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando scored highest runs.
Chris Morris and Dwaine Pretorius took three wickets each and restricted Sri Lanka to just 203 runs in 49.3 overs.
In reply, Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla came out in the middle to chase the total.
But, it was Lasith Malinga who put first dent to the Proteas innings in de Kock. Unfortunately, it was the only wicket taken by Sri Lankan bowlers in the entire match. In the end, South Africa easily chase down the total and won the match by 9 wickets.
Dwaine Pretorius became Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of 10 overs in which he took 3 wickets and gave away just 25 runs.
