Asteroids 2019 SP, 2019 SN3 Inching Dangerously Close to Earth, Are Space Rocks Going To Hit Us Today?
Earth Will Have Yet Another Close Encounter With Two Giant Asteroids Today. The Two Space Rocks That Will Come Extremely Close To The Earth Today Are Identified As Asteroid 2019 SP And Asteroid 2019 SN3. If These Two Asteroids Hit The Earth, Massive Casualties May Occur.
Last week, News Nation reported that a pair of deadly asteroids (space rocks) dubbed as 1998 FF14 and 2019 SW1 had zip past the Earth. However, Earth will have yet another close encounter with two giant asteroids today. Yes, you read it right. The two space rocks that will come extremely close to the Earth today are identified as asteroid 2019 SP and asteroid 2019 SN3. If these two asteroids hit the Earth, massive casualties may occur.
Asteroids are small, rocky objects that orbit the Sun. Although asteroids orbit the Sun like planets, they are much smaller than planets. The celestial bodies can bring tsunamis, shock waves and flattening winds that could be catastrophic. The space rocks approach towards the Earth due to the gravitational forces that affect them. It is said that one day, all life on Earth will extinct and an asteroid could be the possible reason. Shocked to hear that? However, a car-sized asteroid slams into the Earth's atmosphere about once in a year. On the other hand, an asteroid large enough to threaten the existence of life on Earth arrives once in every few million years.

According to the NASA, the first of the two tracked space rocks, asteroid 2019 SP will come dangerously close to the Earth today at around 11:00 am (IST). Asteroid SP measures somewhere in the range of 111.5ft to 249ft (34m to 76m). During the approach, the space rock will travel at a staggering speed of 33,688mph (54,216kph).
The second space rock that will hover around the Earth is dubbed as an asteroid 2019 SN3. It will come dangerously close to the Earth today at around 5:15 pm (IST). NASA's estimate says that asteroid 2019 SN3 measures in the range of 42.6ft to 95ft (13m to 29m) across. The space rock is currently travelling through space at a speed of around 17,179mph (27,648kph).
